Bengali text to speech for Bangla audiences in Bangladesh and West Bengal
Bengali, or Bangla, is written left to right in its own script, and spelling often differs from pronunciation: শ, ষ and স usually all sound like “sh”, while the vowel sign ে can stand for “e” or “æ”. Bangla voiceovers are used for YouTube explainers, news-style videos, online classes, audiobooks and ads.
Standard Bangla is shared by Bangladesh and West Bengal, but everyday words differ: Bangladesh typically uses পানি (water) and গোসল (bath) where West Bengal uses জল and স্নান. Dhaka and Kolkata speakers also differ in intonation and some sounds, and news or lessons call for more careful Bangla than YouTube videos and ads. Listen for: Check that সকালে begins with an “sh” sound, since standard Bangla usually pronounces স that way, and that ধ in ধারে is breathy rather than a plain d.

Listen for: Listen to the vowel written ে or এ: it is an open “æ” in কেন and এত but a closed “e” in দেরি, a difference the spelling does not show.

Often, yes. Bangladeshi দাওয়াত (invitation) and নাস্তা (breakfast or snack) are usually নিমন্ত্রণ and জলখাবার in West Bengal, and choices like these tell listeners who a script was written for. Pick one set for your main audience, use it consistently, and preview the script with a voice whose accent suits that audience.

Sadhu bhasha, the older literary style of many classic novels, uses long verb forms such as করিয়াছিলাম where modern standard Bangla says করেছিলাম.
