Hebrew text to speech when your script has no niqqud
Hebrew is written right to left, and everyday Hebrew leaves out niqqud, the vowel points, so readers rely on context to tell whether ספר means “book”, “barber” or “he counted”. Hebrew voiceovers are used for YouTube explainers, podcasts, e-learning courses, ads and audiobooks.
Modern Hebrew is fairly uniform across Israel, but speakers differ in details: most pronounce ח the same as the “kh” sound of כ and leave ע almost silent, while some, especially in traditional Mizrahi pronunciation, keep both as distinct throat sounds. Register usually matters more, since news and formal narration use careful literary Hebrew while ads, podcasts and social videos sound conversational. Start without it: Hebrew is normally published without vowel points, in full spelling that uses ו and י to show many vowels, so write your script that way and preview it. If a word that can be read more than one way comes out wrong, try adding niqqud to that word only, or save a custom pronunciation for it in Listnr Studio.
Written Hebrew often shows both genders with a slash, but a voiceover can say only one form. Rewrite those lines before generating: address the audience in the plural, as in לחצו, choose one form for the whole script, or use an impersonal phrase such as יש ללחוץ. Then preview a few lines to check that they sound natural.
Hebrew numbers change form with the gender of the noun they count, as in שלוש דקות (three minutes) and שלושה ימים (three days). If a number must be said in a particular form, write it out in words, then preview the line before generating the full voiceover.
